No, not the poltergeists, the beasts. For more on the newest addition to my miniatures, check under the zoologicals tab.
Like all of us, I will certainly be tempted to acquire other items at some point in the future. But once the last pack of Blue Moon figures on order at the local hobby shop arrives, I can say I have all of my planned figures for all of those tabs you see above. With the size of the collection of figures I have, that is a very satisfying point to arrive at.
Will get more photos up as soon as I can. After the approaching weekend gets past I should have more time available for my hobby activities. I sure hope so.
Yesterday marked nine months of existence for this blog and it has now surpassed 5,000 page views. Of course, I'm under no illusion that means 5,000 people have visited here, just means however many people have shown up have clicked on 5,000 pages. Hope it entertains enough of you to make it worthwhile. If not, well, I'm having fun sorting out what I have and just what I'll end up doing with all that stuff.
Where playing with toy soldiers is the whole point - and sharing the joy of doing so. And keeping a record of what's been done and what is still awaiting completion. A note of caution for those unfamiliar: this activity can be remarkably addictive and take over your free time. Well, now wait a minute, it's so much fun that shouldn't be a problem. Oh, that's right. It's not! (title with asterisk in bar below is newest or most recent modification to a Page topic)

Really small guns?
No, Musket Miniatures is a company - not really tiny weapons. Well, okay, the cast weapons on their figures can be on the wee side, but you get the picture. Or not. But to clarify, I placed an order with them this morning for a bunch of their HO scale wild animals that I'm hoping will be useful with my Blue Moon Manufacturing 18 mm figures I plan to use for Mountain Man gaming. Once I have them, I'll get some photos up to show some size comparisons so others can decide if they will work for them or not. Still on the hunt for the right figures for the native opponents of the Mountain Men.
Now as to my plans and hopes for New Years Day and getting stuff painted and photographed...I was ambushed! That's my story and as far as I'm going with that.
I was thinking to make this a goal, almost along the lines of a resolution, but decided to just keep it as a hope. And that is to try and get in a whole lot more games this year than last year and try to keep at a 3:1 or 4:1 ratio of games played to games run. With a bit of luck I hope to get to at least 24 games for the year and that includes the two conventions, one here in town and one a couple hours away, I like to attend. Since I can usually get in several games at each event that means I only need to get in something less than two a month to achieve that. If life were perfect, I'd get in at least two games a week. Hope you get as many games as you hope for this year, whatever your number.

Where are the game reports?
Now that is an excellent question. With a terrible answer. I barely played a game (a few) in the last year. A large part of that is because so much gaming time was devoted to the pirate project and then the post-pirate withdrawal that came from so much effort. I certainly hope to play - and host - a lot more games in 2013.
So, even though one of the other main reasons I started this blog was to record games, so far I haven't been able to do so. Guess I've been spending too much time making other plans - and you know what happens when you do that!
And here is one of the main distractions:

And here is one of the main distractions:
This is my three year old nephew and best little bud. He's on my wife's side of the family, born in the Philippines but been here in the states since he was four months old. I guess missing a few games to help put that smile on his face - we love playing together with his Duplo blocks - is worth it. Maybe one day he and I will face each other across the table. Who knows.
But I really need to get more gaming in, I really do.
