Where playing with toy soldiers is the whole point - and sharing the joy of doing so. And keeping a record of what's been done and what is still awaiting completion. A note of caution for those unfamiliar: this activity can be remarkably addictive and take over your free time. Well, now wait a minute, it's so much fun that shouldn't be a problem. Oh, that's right. It's not! (title with asterisk in bar below is newest or most recent modification to a Page topic)

Progress on ship and submarine - and floating dock
Great progress on assembling a submarine.
That little 'bump out' near the water was a cool thrift store find - got three of them and used all three on this build. The 'mast' on the submarine was part of the thrift store find and made need some adjusting if not straight (?).
May - or may not - add a propeller at the stern.
Added a ram at the front - my variation on the Verne Nautilus afterall: JVS Naughtylust The source of the ram was just a plastic part I had laying around which needed a couple of arms sawed off.
A top down shot shwoing what, for now, will be the pilots cabin (just a plastic rectangular piece but I'd like to find something better, especially a 'bubble').
Masked off the upper portions of the tramp steamers.
Painted them a burgundy color.
Demasked after the paint dried.
Added some plank decking - just using Evergreen plastic sheet.
Did a top down painting of the planking - and added a couple of squares and a funnel (painted before adding that last).
Both the submarine and tramp steamer (another one to work on) are a bit crude but I think they will work as game 'scenery' if not more. Still plan to add a bunch of details to the steamer and, maybe, a little bit to the sub.
Added the sides to the floating dock and did some rattle can painting - will need more work later which may or may not occur before the November game.

A Detour into the Shape of Things to Come
Some mixed metaphors. Some self-indulgence. And, with a little luck, some self-inspiration. Oh, and a new item to show off - if not yet painted. And, yes, a number of items in this post are not painted but, as said, some self-indulgence in just seeing items on a mini-table all together, only 32" x 40", a fraction of a 'normal' table for me which, at minimum, is usually, at least, 5' x 6' (or 8') which is more than triple what you are about to see.
A first view, the building to the top is the proximate reason for this post, more on that later.
An overall view of pulp, Africa colonial and perhaps more, thus the mixed metaphors. And only in this shot, up near the top, can you see some in progress crocodiles though a bit of a blur but there are three each on two stands.
Hippos in process both in and out of the water and some Cape buffalo on the land.
A dozen grayrillas as I call them, pulp or otherwise.
Elephants, wildebeest, zebras and more.
Porters heading towards the river's edge.
Giraffe and quagga, the latter likely to get some repainting work at some point, stripes should be a little darker and more visible.
A few okapi in the jungle. The trees are still in process, some just need basing work, the others trunk work, canopy work, and basing textured.
Some monkeys on small tree trunks.
A few rhinos in process.
A small boat in process with a couple of figures on board - from the pulp game in process of preparing.
The bow of the larger river boat with a few similar figures.
A few more figures in front of - unpainted - a jungle cruise building I've had for a bit.
And those same figures in front of the newer jungle cruise building that just arrived today. Finally - took about six weeks.
Another view of the same new building.
The view of the other side of the building - with some critters in view.
A rather large ape in the image - apparently a very stealthy beast because no panic among man or beast. Yet.
And one more shot of the zebras and wildebeest, just for me because I wanted it.

A "tranche" of figures ready
168 figures for my pulp games. More 'detailed' photos later.
And now that it is later, here are a bunch more photos.
First up are what I call the Tylerites. Of course, if you look closely you will see a number of figures clearly meant to be Indiana Jones and related. But for my own purposes, I am creating an alternative story line revolving around a bunch of Tyler family figures and their close associates and various and sundry hangers on.
These first three photos are more the hangers on and less closely related.
This image has the Khurasan version of Inday on the left and the figure I've selected for my variation of Mutt on the right.
I even have a dismounted version adjacent to his motorbike variant.
My second favorite version of Indy cracking his whip - and over on the right is Senior.
And this last Tylerite group has my favorite Indy in the long coat with a whip with Marian to his right. The farthest right figure is the fourth of the Indy figures.
Just a view showing my favorite from the back with the long coat. While I have names for all of the figures in the above photos, I'm still tinkering a bit with who belongs where in the 8 figure groups (the motor bike is an 'extra' figure).
Next up are the 'civilians', mostly unarmed. This one has the muleteer and his mule for the coffee company Jitterbug Java and the spokeswoman for Carmina Burana Bananas. The third figure may be my representative for the local chocolate enterprise - as yet unnamed.
These eight men are the Italian section based in Central America of the Cavendish Family of 'the mob'.
A half dozen men and a half dozen women more or less in a panic.
These nine sculpts represent a dozen women and children including a couple of nuns.
And the last of the 'civilians' is a dozen figures, mostly men but one woman in the bunch, with around half armed - along with a dead figure who may get his coast dry brushed whiter since he is a downed scientist figure in his lab coat.
Third figure from the left is the Rightist wannabe dictator next to his main squeeze and his main supporters.
Far right this time is the Leftist wannabe dictator with his squeeze and principle supporters.
And El Presidente himself with his wife - and, shh! - his mistress and his inner circle of power.
As promised somewhere along the way, El Presidente is sporting a white tie for the tropics.
And now we come to the ship's crews in four groups plus a 'command' with the senior merhcant officer in port along with a heavy weapon (machine gun type) in this first photo.
The dark brown hat dozen unarmed sailors.
The ochre colored hat dozen unarmed sailors.
One of the two groups of armed sailors with one group having a woman in the mix.
The woman is the one front left of this armed group of sailors. As you can see, all of the ship's crew groups of 12 have a dead figure as well. The different colored hats make the unarmed easy to identify but the armed figures are a bit more of a challenge so I've added a colored dot to the bottom of the bases to make easier to keep coherent in a game and, especially, when putting figures away.
This lot gives a considerable variety in options as far as pulp scenarios go.
Newly moved to the painting table are the armed forces of El Presidente and each of the wannabe dictators along with 15 pieces for African archaeologists - though these are the lowest priority just now since not needed for the game in Central America which all of the above are targeted towards. Naturally, the figures can be realigned for given scenarios whether in Central America, Africa, or southeast Asia.
